Aftercare
Stay upright and avoid pressure, massage, or makeup on the treated area for the first few hours. Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, and alcohol for 24 hours, and avoid facial massage and lying face-down on the day. How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
For cosmetic use, the effect typically lasts three to four months. With consistent treatment many patients find the interval gradually lengthens. Medical indications tend to last longer: masseter treatment for jaw clenching commonly lasts four to six months, and treatment for excessive sweating four to nine months. How soon will I see results, and does it hurt?
Most people find the injections very tolerable — similar to quick pinpricks — and numbing cream is available where helpful. Softening usually begins within a few days, with the full effect at around two weeks. There is no real downtime; strenuous exercise and alcohol are best avoided for 24 hours to reduce the chance of bruising.
Can these injections help my jaw clenching?
Yes. Injected into the masseter muscle, the prescription medicine reduces the force of clenching and grinding (bruxism), easing jaw tension, headaches, and dental wear, while gradually slimming a bulky jawline. Symptom relief usually begins around two weeks, and visible jawline change builds over six to twelve weeks as the muscle becomes less active.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are usually mild and short-lived: pinpoint bleeding at the injection sites, an occasional small bruise, and mild headache for a day.
