The short answer
What this treatment is
Skin boosters and biostimulators improve the quality of the skin itself rather than adding structural volume the way a dermal filler does. Some — such as Profhilo and Sunekos — are hyaluronic-acid-based bioremodellers that hydrate the tissue and stimulate the skin's own collagen and elastin. Others — such as JULÄINE and Radiesse — are collagen biostimulators that prompt the body to lay down new collagen over the following months for gradual firming. The common thread is that they refine texture, hydration, firmness, and glow without changing the shape of your face. Because these products work in different ways and suit different concerns and skin types, Dr Paul Elgey selects the right one — and the right protocol — at a doctor-led consultation rather than offering a one-size-fits-all treatment.

Patient journey
What to expect
Consultation & preparation
Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours before treatment to minimise bruising. Come makeup-free and well hydrated. Discontinue topical retinoids on the treatment area for 48 hours beforehand, and flag any history of cold sores or any bleeding disorder at consultation.
During treatment
Aftercare
Avoid pressure, massage, and makeup at the injection sites for 12 hours. Skip saunas, steam rooms, intense exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours. Results from bioremodellers and biostimulators build gradually over the following weeks to months; a review is arranged to assess how the course has settled before any further treatment.

FAQ
Common
questions
How are skin boosters different from dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers add structural volume and change shape at a specific site, such as the lips or cheeks. Skin boosters and biostimulators improve the quality of the skin — hydration, firmness, texture, and glow — without changing face shape. Many patients over 35 benefit from both: filler where structure is needed, boosters to improve the overall canvas.
Which product is right for me?
It depends on your concern and skin. Profhilo and Sunekos (hyaluronic-acid bioremodellers) suit hydration, laxity, and the delicate under-eye area; Radiesse and JULÄINE (collagen biostimulators) suit gradual firming and lower-face definition. Dr Elgey selects the right product and protocol at a doctor-led consultation rather than offering a fixed menu.
How long do the results last?
It varies by product. Hyaluronic-acid bioremodellers such as Profhilo typically last around six months, with most patients repeating the course twice a year. Collagen biostimulators such as Radiesse build new collagen over months and can last longer. Dr Elgey will give you a realistic timeline and a maintenance plan for the product chosen.
Is there any downtime?
Generally minimal. Bioremodellers leave small injection points that settle within a day or two, and biostimulators may cause mild swelling for a few days. Avoid pressure, massage, and makeup at the injection sites for 12 hours, and skip saunas, intense exercise, and alcohol for 24 hours. Most patients return to their day the same afternoon.
Can I combine skin boosters with other treatments?
Yes. Skin boosters and biostimulators combine well with anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and polynucleotides, because each works on different tissue in a complementary way. Treatments are sequenced sensibly across appointments, and energy-based treatments such as laser are usually spaced about two weeks either side. Dr Elgey will plan the sequence at consultation.
Who performs the treatment?
Every treatment is performed by Dr Paul Elgey himself — a GMC-registered medical doctor (MBBS, MRCGP) with over 20 years in medicine and a Level 7 Diploma in Injectables. Treatment begins with a doctor-led consultation, where the most appropriate product and protocol are chosen for your skin and goals.
