Dr Paul’s approach
Lip Architecture & Natural Proportion
Lip filler is not simply about increasing size. It is about respecting anatomy, proportion, and the way the lips relate to the rest of the face.
The upper and lower lip should exist in balance, typically following a 1:1.6 ratio. The vermilion border, Cupid’s bow, philtral columns, and oral commissures all contribute to how the lips are perceived at rest and in motion. Subtle changes to projection and contour can restore definition without creating heaviness or distortion.
Ageing of the lips is not limited to volume loss. There is gradual flattening of the white roll, elongation of the upper lip, reduced tooth show, and changes in perioral support. Treatment is therefore tailored not only to enhance, but to restore structural harmony where needed.
Every lip is assessed individually. Factors such as tissue thickness, muscle activity, previous filler placement, and vascular anatomy influence technique and product selection. A conservative, layered approach is often preferred to preserve softness and minimise the risk of migration.
The objective is always refinement rather than exaggeration: creating lips that appear balanced, well supported, and appropriate to the individual face.
